Drum Beats is a triptych documentary featuring three unlikely drummers--a stay at home mom from Hong Kong, a 9 year old boy and his proper but hard rockin' mother, and a paint bucket drummer 'turning over lids' on the 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica for tips. Shot on hand-processed black and white super 8 film as rough and tumble as the drummers' scrappy, DIY approach, each one takes us through the beats of the stories that drew them to the drum kit and challenges us to rethink the prerequisites for making music.  Drum Beats premiered at the 2011 Heartland Film Festival.
